Personal Description:

I am a professional musician based in Glasgow. I have a B.A.(Hons) in Applied Music from the University of Strathclyde and a Masters of Design in Sound for the Moving Image from the Glasgow School of Art. I have played guitar and pipes for twelve years and have many years of experience teaching all ages and abilities. I specialise in traditional Scottish and Irish style of playing and I am also an accomplished session player and can teach pop and rock styles of acoustic and electric guitar. I am Disclosure Scotland Certified. I usually teach from my home office in Glasgow but depending on distance and timing of lessons I can travel to you. I can also offer lessons via Facetime.

Tutoring Experience:

Throughout my eight years of tutoring experience I have tutored at week-long Feisean in North Uist and Golspie, tutoring on both guitar and pipes. Alongside those week-long Feisean I have also tutored guitar at weekly group lessons at the Feis Fhoirt, deputising for the regular tutor and co-leading an after school group for Primary School children, tutoring them in the basics of music. I also teach through the Youth Music Initiative at Feis Rois. In 2015 I was appointed by Horsecross Arts in Perth as a Musical Apprentice. There I mentored the large Celtic ensemble, the Gordon Duncan Experience. This involved improving their skills on their individual instruments as well as their ensemble playing. I was also instrumental in co-leading a six week series of workshops in Perthshire for students aged between twelve and nineteen. This involved improving their musicality and theory. In 2016 in became the Bagpipe Instructor for South Ayrshire Council and Wellington School in Ayr, tutoring over 100 children and young adults a week.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning an instrument should be fun and enjoyable. I aim to make my lessons as productive and enjoyable as possible.
