Personal Description:
My name is Alexandra and I am a piano tutor with a BA honours degree.
With 28 years of Academic experience and 11 years of professional experience, I am able to demonstrate and encourage high standards of professionalism, supporting aspiring young musicians as well as beginners.
Children can begin playing as soon as they have some reading ability and adult beginners or those returning to the piano after a gap are always welcome.
Lessons last for an hour or half an hour, depending on students' level and patience.
Currently, I teach ABRSM and Trinity College exam syllabuses up to grade 6, but I am also happy to do casual tutorials.
Apart from being a Tutor, I am also a musician and a Composer having worked with actors and music bands. Some of my compositions have been performed and played at Cinerockom International Film Festival, California, USA as well as at Griechische Kulturstiftung Berlin, Germany.
Tutoring Experience:
2010-present:
Junior, Intermediate and advanced classes. ABRSM, Trinity and National5 exams preparation (I -VI) as well as casual Piano Tutoring.
2016-present:
Member of ECFA ( Edinburgh Competition Festival Association).
Piano performance preparation. Highly encouraging students to take part in competitions and gain self motivation as well as experience.
Tutoring Approach:
I approach my students in a calm and positive way, making sure that they not only get most of their lessons, but also enjoy them. Music and movement instruction has been shown to improve children's memory, cognitive development, learning skills and expressive ability.
