Information About Alex - Bristol teacher - (2 reviews)
This is how 4 referees rated Alex:
I am a very friendly and easy going person. As well as teaching I enjoy dancing tango and also writing. I've two novels recently completed and I'm currently working on the outline for a third. My friends say I always like to keep busy with different creative projects and exploring new ideas.
I first began teaching in 1997 when I was completing the final year of my Bachelor Of Music at USQ Toowoomba (Qld). I only had one student then, but I was happy to be able to help her prepare and successfully complete her audition to enter the Bachelor Of Music course herself. Since that time I have taught people of all ages and skills in Melbourne and since 2009 in the UK; Stroud, Brighton and now Bristol. My degree is in Classical music but I have always enjoyed improvising and playing Folk and Gypsy music also. In 2010 I began to teach myself jazz and now enjoy teaching and performing in this style also.
I focus on achieving the best possible result while maintaining a warm and friendly atmosphere. I always say that perfectionism is great, but not at the expense of individual creativity. The best violin technique is where you can show the little idiosyncrasies (playing slightly out of tune, sliding as you change positions) of violin playing; this is how you get the romantic feel of Gypsy and Jazz violinists. One can hear this when while listening to famous Classical players such as Yehudi Menuhin and Nigel Kennedy etc.
