Information About Alex - Wirral teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Alex:
I have been a member of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra since 2007. I have played with professional orchestras throughout the UK and abroad, and as principal cello for the Aurora Orchestra at the BBC Proms and the Northern Chamber Orchestra. As a soloist and chamber musician I have performed in many prestigious venues and live on Radio Merseyside and Radio 3, and have studied with some of the finest musicians in the world. I regularly give recitals with Pixels Ensemble, exponents of classical and contemporary music. I also perform with the improvisation trio White Lines.
After graduating from Cambridge University in 2003, I completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Performance at the Royal Academy of Music in 2005 with distinction, studying cello with international soloist Colin Carr. Whilst there I gained the LRAM teaching qualification and was appointed a junior fellow in chamber music with the Lawson Trio before moving to Liverpool.
After graduating from the royal Academy of Music with distinction, I taught at the Oxford Cello School, giving lessons, exam coaching and masterclasses to children and adults of all abilities. In 2008 I became cello professor at Liverpool University and have coached the cello sections of the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and Cheshire Youth Orchestras. I regularly lead workshops at Liverpool Philharmonic and in children centres across Merseyside, introducing Early Years children to classical music.
I am DBS (CRB) approved.
An enthusiastic communicator, I have much experience teaching all ages and all abilities. I always aims to instil the technical and musical skills required to play the cello and make music in a way that is approachable, achievable and fun.
Although in much demand as a performer and teacher in Merseyside and beyond, I teach weekly from my home in Heswall. Skype lessons are also available.
Beginners of all ages are welcome and are soon playing their first pieces on the cello!
