Information About Alessandro - Haringey teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Alessandro:
I am a session musician and performer based in London since 2002. I started playing more than twenty years ago covering all sorts of styles: Jazz, Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Drum and Bass, Dubstep, Reggae, Ska, Brazilian, Cuban, African, Balkan, Turkish, Kletzmer.
After completing the High School of Arts in Rome I started studying jazz drumming in a private music school, then entered the Conservatorio Morlacchi in Perugia obtaining the Classical Percussion MA in 1998, during which I took part in 2 Berklee summer courses.
I then started to explore ethnic percussion languages with experts from different countries, and collaborated with orchestras, jazz avant-garde combos and big bands. I was asked to teach in a music school based in Rome and joined the team for one year, teaching children, within an age range from 8 to 16.
In Britain I have played and collaborated with numerous bands having residencies in clubs and music venues ( Ronnie Scott’s, Spitz, Pigalle ), festivals ( Glastonbury, Bestival, Secret Garden Party, LoveBox, Hyde Park, Africa Day, etc… ) as well as playing at private functions and corporate events.
Despite being a busy performer, I feel I have reached a point where I'm ready to transmit my knowledge to the next generation: sharing the joy of playing drums.
After the completion of the Classical Degree I did one extra year in the Conservatorio as teacher's assistant, then thought drums for one year at the Accademia Romana di Musica to childern within an age range of 8 to 16. I also thought privately from home.
Last year In London I was part of an ensemble giving a Urban Brass Workshop at the UCS Junior branch in Hampstead
I have been thought music in a classical environment, which was demanding high standards of commitment and behavior, but I have also developed through private lessons a more personal approach looking at the special needs of every student, trying to stimulate their curiosity, the playfulness, and stressing the importance of even the smallest improvement in every learning curve by paying attention to the development of physical coordination (which is also linked to behavioral patterns), the music theory and performing skills within the student's interests and music taste, in order to guarantee a solid foundation mixed with the recreational and entertaining aspect of the musical expression.
From July 2014 onward I'll have a studio available with two drum kits set up ready for the action :-)
