I am in my early 40s and have a great rapport with students of all ages, having taught from ages 5 - 75. Previously I had a music school in Fermanagh with many students, however I have moved to this area several years ago. I teach privately and in a grammar school in Bangor and in a primary school in Newtownards. I currently play cello in Nendrum string quartet and Studio Symphony Orchestra, and previously played keyboards in a rock band; I also help lead the worship in my church. I enjoy singing, playing guitar and learning bass guitar in my spare time. I only have 1 or 2 spaces left at the moment. I offer a reduced rate when paying by monthly standing order.
Experienced and grade 8 qualified piano and cello tutor, high success rate in exams (I offer Trinity Guildhall, LCM, ABRSM, ABRSM Jazz piano, and up to G5 Theory), GCSE and A-level practicals. I have been teaching music for over 15 years.
Beginners to advanced will absolutely love their lessons, and I have had pupils who have previously given up their instrument through boredom or lack of interest come to love it under my tuition. I have also noticed that often pupils who come to me from other tutors have poor sight-reading skills for their grade (this is evident particularly in piano students), which rapidly improves due to great tuition books that I use, and not solely focusing on exams.
I have also successfully tutored many students for grade 5 theory.
I use modern teaching methods which develop great sight-reading skills right from the start. The focus is on creativity and on practical theory knowledge from a young age .My students do well in their exams, however exams are not the be-all and end-all and I make sure they play a wide variety of music… playing only exam pieces can cause progress to stagnate.
I emphasise fun in my lessons but also the importance of focused practice… improving areas that are weak and becoming stronger technically (such as correct fingering in scales, etc)… More adept pupils I like to get into the Jazz grades to broaden their approach and improve their improvisation skills. The tuition books I use are great and I focus on sight-reading and aural tests right from the start, in a fun and interesting way. Pupils who have been with me from the start tend to be very well-rounded players and not frightened of exams (well, just a little perhaps!). I've really enjoyed helping students with their GCSE practicals and have had students perform some amazing solos and duets, gaining top marks in their exams.

Im a 25 year old professional and was apprehensive about taking lessons. I was new to piano although had previously been accomplished with the flute. I was worried about a slow pace or being patronised. Aine was great and i havent had any problems, advancing at my pace and enjoying it. highly recommend aine
