This is how 2 referees rated Adrian:
I am an energetic, enthusiastic and experienced music teacher and professional musician. I have always believed that a well rounded musical training is key to an individuals development of self-esteem and confidence. In continuing to be a motivated, inspired and creative tutor, I maintain a proven ability in getting the very best out of my pupils, enabling them to foster their individual natural musical flair and in due course, go on to reach their full potential. I specialize in teaching Flute, Music Theory & Music History to an advanced standard (A level, Diploma and beyond) and Piano to an intermediate level. In addition to private tuition, I am currently the Chairman of the Board of Trustees to the North London Festival of Music, Speech and Drama, one of the largest Festivals in the UK, and on occasion give talks and presentations on chosen aspects of Music History. I am also a choral conductor and sing with the Alumni Choir of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. I trained with the Trinity College of Music and the London College of Music (now West London University).
My teaching experience spans more than 30 years, notably, 1990-94, Flute & Recorder teacher for the Music Services of Hertfordshire Education Authority, teaching at Langleybury Secondary School, The Rutts Primary School Bushey and Newberries Avenue Primary School Radlett.
1990-94 Flute teacher & GCSE Music moderator at St Saviours & St Olaves Secondary School London, 1991-94 Flute & Recorder teaching and Choral Training at St Vincent De Paul Catholic Primary School Westminster. 1991-2008 Part Time -Full Time, Abercorn Preparatory School, Head of Department, writing and teaching a class music curriculum while leading a team of skilled professionals to deliver a stimulating music education based around singing, music appreciation, music history, choral training and instrumental teaching. 2008 - Present, Class Music Teacher for First Note Education and Private Music Tutor. I regularly prepare students for examinations with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and Trinity Guildhall as well as music scholarship examinations and auditions and masterclasses.
First and foremost, students enjoy their learning experience and come to know the joy of music and understand the difference it can make in their lives. Each student is always treated as an individual with their own unique natural musical flair and potential. I appreciate every students individual approach to Music and so develop an understanding of their personal aims, objectives and learning needs. Achievement in music is not always measured by the examination system and although I am committed to the pursuit of excellence, exams maybe or maybe not part of a persons musical journey. That being said, my students have been successful in all levels of examinations. I engage with pupils emotions, teach through demonstration, multi approach explanation and variety. I encourage feedback, questioning, and expect students to challenge themselves.
