Information About Adam - Mayfair teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Adam:
As an experienced pianist, both on the concert platform and in the classroom, my teaching style has been described as witty, sensitive and erudite.
Born in Hong Kong of Nigerian-Filipino descent, Adam has established himself as one of today’s leading young concert pianists, and in 2017 he was unanimously made the recipient of the Irish Heritage Music Award following a performance at London’s Wigmore Hall.
At the age of thirteen he won a scholarship, courtesy of the UK Government’s Music and Dance Scheme, to study at Wells Cathedral School, one of the UK's specialist music schools. Whilst a student at Wells he achieved notable success, including winning first prize at the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe’s prestigious Junior Intercollegiate Beethoven Competition.
Currently a scholar at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Adam frequently performs in recital, both in the UK and abroad. Recent overseas engagements include a concert at the residence of the British Ambassador in Kiev, Ukraine, and also a tour of his native Hong Kong with the acclaimed British cellist Jamie Walton. Closer to home, Adam has performed at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, and the Bath Pump Rooms. He often appears at the Cheltenham Music Festival, and in 2017 he was invited to return there to perform Mozart's Piano Concerto K. 271 with the Chineke! Orchestra, directed by the American conductor Jonathon Heyward.
He has received masterclasses from several eminent figures, including Stephen Hough, John Lill, and Imogen Cooper, and he was recently offered a recording contract with the Spanish record label, KNS Classical.
Recently he made his debut on BBC Radio 3, in a performance and interview with presenter Sean Rafferty, recorded live at BBC Broadcasting House.
I have been giving weekly piano lessons to my London students for over a year, and I teach a diverse class of all ages and abilities; from young children to working adults, and from the aspiring concert musician to the casual learner.
In the past, whilst I studied at the prestigious Wells Cathedral School, a specialist music school, I was often sought to coach my younger colleagues in all aspects of piano playing. Many of those students who have taken tuition from me have progressed to win national and international competitions, and have learned to perform in concert with ever-increasing confidence and conviction.
I am consistent in providing lessons which nurture fresh thinking, spontaneity, and trust in oneself. I believe that in order to achieve a high level of technical and artistic mastery, it is necessary to address each and every student's individual needs.
As a result, I ensure to treat each of my students according to their own requirements, and to tailor my tuition to their preference. I unfailingly support the philosophy of teaching which promotes actively learning from and listening to students, thus enhancing the exchange of knowledge during lessons.
