I decided to take up piano lessons again after many years. I wanted help to learn to jam and get away from my formal classical training and that's where Janey stepped in. Wow. She is a highly intuitive, fun, inspiring teacher with oodles of energy. I am working towards a grade 6 rock and pop keyboard exam which combines my classical skills and improvisation. I have a busy life through having a small child and being self employed and Janey has accommodated me spectacularly. When I haven't managed to fit practice in she has marvellously adapted the lessons for singing harmonies, helping me get through random pieces I've picked up and also broken down difficult elements so I can practise in 5 mins bursts through my busy schedule. I'm so glad I started lessons again with Janey and look forward to continuing in the future. Thanks for all you have inspired in me. Have I spelt practice/practise right? I should know after all I have done! If you are considering a teacher then please give Janey a go she won't disappoint.

I’m so glad to be taught by Bryan. He has reengaged me in the creativity, expression & skill of piano playing & inspiring me to start playing again after I became partially sighted. His deep knowledge, breadth of experience & musicality lead him to teach in a way that is anything but “by numbers”. He gets you to think imaginatively about what composers were trying to convey, physically about how best you move around the notes and mentally, how the music is constructed, all leading to much more intuitive playing, by ear, feeling and understanding of technique & theory in terms of how it creates the music, rather than just repetition of notes! Lessons are structured to your interests, needs, playing music you enjoy, improvising and working towards grades in the most inspiring way that keeps you wanting to improve and learn more! Perfect for adult students like me, but for kids too the ideal way to learn I think, which I wish I’d had when younger, as it’s never just “practice”, it’s “playing” piano!
