As an older beginner I was a little nervous about my first lesson but Mariana immediately put me at my ease. She is an excellent teacher and I would recommend her to people of all ages and abilities. I came home after my first lesson feeling very positive. I appreciated the friendly welcome, and the fact that you quickly assessed that I needed to feel my way slowly back into playing after such a long break.Your explanations regarding the musical theory behind the piece ('Sonatina' by Scarlatti) in relation to playing it, which I had never heard previously, all made very good sense, and has certainly helped me when practicing. I also enjoyed the sight reading exercises, especially playing those written as a 'duet' with you. I also appreciated the fact that you did not rush this first lesson together and gave me far longer than one hour! All in all, you made me feel confident of my own ability to make a 'success' of picking up piano playing again at this stage of my life, whilst I felt very confident of your ability and performance as my teacher. Thank you, Mariana!
