Personal Description:

I specialise in adapting and teaching songs from the contemporary, pop, rock, soul, blues and folk canon and Musical Theatre. At present I teach from home as well as being on the singing faculty for the Morea Performing Arts Academy in Cheltenham. As a performer, I have worked extensively with bands and in theatre, TV, radio and film. As well as teaching, I currently sing with two bands and run choirs in Stroud and Bath which includes song-writing and arranging original material as well as performing well-loved contemporary songs.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught for over 20 years and include the wonderful Estill Voice Model as part of my approach to voice production. I love to work with singers and actors of all standards and levels of experience. My teaching includes many years of 1 to 1 tuition as well as leading workshops and choirs. My passion for music and performing continues to feed my passion for teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

I am open-minded, flexible and able to adapt to each student. Sometimes singers wish to work with me before joining a choir or band, sometimes they are preparing for exams or entry to drama school or university. Sometimes there is a great love of music and singing that has not been allowed to be expressed and many other times I work with professionals as they prepare for a performance. I encourage singers to choose their own songs as well as offering on my suggestions. I work with backing tracks so that I can focus all my attention on the singer. We may use the keyboard at times for exercises, finding keys, learning melodies and slowing down a melody as we learn a song.
