Personal Description:

I started my first year of classical singing at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp in 2007 and finished my masters degree with distinction in 2012. The following year, I completed the one year specialised teachers degree at the same institution to later go on to do my second masters degree at the Royal Northern College of Music. Where I also finished an Advanced Postgraduate Degree in 2016.

Next to being a singing teacher and vocal coach, I am working towards a professional career in opera. A couple of my roles include include Madame Herz (Der Schauspieldirektor, Mozart, PopUp Opera 2018), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni, Mozart, Opera Loki, 2017), Mimi (La Bohème, Puccini, Barefoot Opera, 2017), Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel, Humperdinck Celebrate Voice, 2017), Rosita (A Husband at the Door, Offenbach, Manchester Opera Ensemble, 2016), Leatitia (The Old Maid and the Thief, Menotti, Manchester Opera Ensemble, 2015) and Phémie (La Bohème, Puccini, Iford Arts, 2017) where I was also part of the Iford Arts Young Artists Programme.

Tutoring Experience:

The part-time music education system in Belgium requires teachers to have a degree in music as well as a specific teaching degree. It creates jobs for musicians and maintains a high standard of music education. During the one year of doing a teaching degree students are required to study a plethora of pedagogic theory-based subjects. They also have to complete a set amount of hours of supervised teaching.

Having done all of this, as well as teaching both privately and at several music schools, I have built up a vast amount of teaching experience working with people of all standards and all ages. I'm happy to prepare you for any ABRSM or Trinity Grade exams ranging from grade 1-8. Alternatively you could pick any other goal -however big or small- and we'll work towards it together.

Tutoring Approach:

The voice is a much sturdier instrument than most people think. If used correctly, it can fill a theatre without amplification, can go on for hours without tiring and can produce all sorts of incredible and weird sounds. But, however strong it is, it is a unique instrument that, when broken, is very difficult to fix. This is why having a reliable singing technique is so very important. Whether you are an amateur singer, a choral singer or a young aspiring musician, if you sing on regular occasions, you should think about vocal health.

I believe my pupils will benefit from my onstage as well as my off stage experience. All my lessons are tailored made for each pupil. Feel free to ask me any questions and if you’re interested in booking a lesson we’ll have a sing and a chat and you can see if it’s for you!
