Personal Description:
Rob is a classically trained, professional musician who is available to give tuition on piano, guitar, music theory and composition, as well as studio expertise such as recording, MIDI and mixing. Friendly, relaxed and knowledgable, Rob is passionate about music education and bringing through the next generation of talent!
Rob studied music at both undergraduate and postgraduate degree levels at the University of Bristol and is now a full-time music composer. His music has been featured all over the world, including on BBC, ITV and Sky, and he has recorded his orchestral music at the world famous Abbey Road Studios.
Tutoring Experience:
Rob has been teaching for the past 8 years, with a varied roster of students: from youngsters making their first musical steps to adults wishing to get back into music-making after time away, and everything in between. With experience performing and composing in a wide variety of genres and styles, Rob is able to cater to a great number of musical interests.
Tutoring Approach:
Learning music should be stimulating and interesting, but most of all fun! Rob is a relaxed character who seeks to get the most out of his students by focusing on their interests whilst still highlighting good technique and encouraging regular practice.
Every one of Rob's students who has taken ABRSM piano exams has passed, with many Distinction and Merit gradings.
However, if a student doesn't want to do exams and simply wants to learn to play their favourite pop songs, that's fine!
Owing to the pandemic, Rob's lessons have been online via video call for the past year but in-person lessons are set to start up again. Please ask if you have any questions or concerns about any of this!
