Personal Description:

I have been teaching one-to-one and group singing for the past two decades, whilst also enjoying an active career as a performer, composer and recording artist. I specialise in contemporary styles such as pop, jazz, folk, soul, rock and musical theatre.

I was trained vocally by my own mother, Rebecca Storm. My mother was trained by one of the world's most respected vocal coaches, Ian Adam. Ian trained well known artists such as Sting, Lulu, Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman when they were creating the iconic musical Phantom of the Opera.

I also attended Corona theatre school, London which was at that time one of the most prestigious drama and music schools in the UK. Although I did not get a part in Grange Hill like many of my peers, I did get the chance to play Little Cossette in Les Miserables at the Palace Theatre in London's West End and at 16 I played the part of Jenny in Aspects of Love opposite John Barrowman.

After leaving school I went to Leeds College of Music (now Leeds Conservatoire) to study alongside some of today's bestl known jazz musicians. While there I was taught to play the guitar by the singer-songwriter and virtuoso guitarist Jon Gomm, whose vocal coach I subsequently became… I believe that the variety in my professional career in the music industry and entertainment business is of great value when teaching each student, to create their unique pathway to find their own voice and style.

Tutoring Experience:

I have 20 years of experience teaching one-to-one and group singing lessons, to all ages and abilities.
Some past students of mine have gone on to work in the music and entertainment industry, appearing live on television, in West End theatres, and one even winning a Brit Award. Some have simply taken the joy of singing and spread it wherever they have gone on in life.

Tutoring Approach:

Each of my lessons are unique because it depends on the individual student. I do however always start with:
Breathing exercises
Stretches
Vocal warm ups

Safety comes first.

Technique
Technique is arguably the most important part of teaching singing, because it is about taking care of your voice correctly so that you can sing forever.

Would you like to be able to jump around the stage, dance and run whilst singing with a controlled voice? Great, give me a call and we can get moving.

Would you like to be able to sing whilst playing an instrument? I can give you some great exercises to help, and pick songs that will suit your voice and ability on the chosen instrument.
I can also help you with microphone technique and general stage performance & choreography.
After a performance lesson with me you will leave feeling exhilarated, and more confident every time.

Pitch, harmony, theory
Pitch and harmony are a very important part of singing, and this is where in my lessons I relate to music theory. Even if you find music theory boring, you will learn theory in my lessons without even knowing. I sneak it in there the way a parent hides the vegetables in the mashed potato at dinner time.
If you are somebody who loves a bit of music theory (as much as I love carrots!) then I can put you through London College of Music exams. Past students have been awarded as high as 98% Distinction at Grade 8.

I work with children aged 5-18 in one-to-one weekly lessons throughout the school term. At the completion of the term the children have made a professionally mixed recording of a song of their choice.
