Information About Nathan - Northampton teacher

Personal Description:

I was an early learner, but only recently went all the way with my grades, for some reason. Initially very casual, ahead of becoming much more serious and dedicated. In addition to playing the piano I also play the ukulele. I like to write a lot of music in my spare time, and that along with practice of new pieces (piano or ukulele) I find quite meditative - a great way to take some time out. Aside from this I am also a nurse, working with kids and families in the community.

Tutoring Experience:

I only started teaching piano during the pandemic, meaning I had to focus on remote online teaching, but because it's gone remarkably well so far I endevour to keep teaching online, having adapted an approach that so far appears to be working well. I'm also a nurse therapist, aspects of which play into my teaching, in surprising ways, particularly when in comes to working with kids, working around barriers to putting learning into practice, and building confidence. Otherwise I taught a lot of children and adults when teaching English in China for a year.

Tutoring Approach:

You might notice £22 per hr, but only because it doesn't give the the option to highlight £11 per 1/2hr. I advise 30 minu**Contact Detail Removed**ssons rather 60 minu**Contact Detail Removed**ssons, up to you though! I do charge a little more over the weekend, £15 per 1/2hr.

Webcam, or smart device, whatever streaming works for you. For younger players I have a cam directly above my piano to offer demos as needed, though that's available for everyone, for more advanced players the focus is on verbal guidance. A lot of attention given to assisting with constructive approaches to practice, schedules, etc. My approach is very solution focussed, particularly when we encounter difficulties putting learning into practice, and evident challenges in specific pieces!
