Personal Description:
I am a clarinet and saxophone player, who has graduated from the University of Chichester in 2017 with a first class degree in Music Performance. I am a member of a clarinet quartet, saxophone quartet and the Havant Symphony Orchestra. I enjoy playing all styles of music and love playing as part of a pit band for shows.
Tutoring Experience:
During my time at university I enjoyed engaging in the different tasks of the teaching modules I took alongside leading many sectional rehearsals for concerts and performances from symphony orchestras to shows. I am now enjoying the opportunity to share with others the joy of music as a professional teacher, in both private and school settings.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that instrumental lessons are a unique experience and should therefore be adjusted to suit every persons needs. They should be kept fun and engaging whilst you are learning new skills. Whether you wish to pass exams, get back into music or are starting from scratch, whatever age, I can design lessons to fit around you.

A wonderful lesson.
Thank you for you expertise and patience.

My situation was that I hadn't played my clarinet for nearly 40 years and I really needed some help to get back into it. I was still familiar with reading music as I have been singing in a choir, but I was finding it very frustrating that I couldn't play my clarinet as well as I hoped and had forgotten so much about how to play it!
Naomi is very patient. She is not controlling, but listens to find out where I need help, and advises me on what I needed to do to improve (fingering, reeds, technique, breathing etc.). In the end I realised that there is no magic bullet and I just have to go back to basics and practise like a beginner! Naomi decided to lend me an old grade 3 book which was ideal (I have since worked through a grade 4 book as well!). She helped me relax and not be too self-critical. Her lessons are a mixture of studies and pieces, and she also brings along some duet books and plays with me, or pieces with a speaker accompaniment, which are great fun to end the lesson with. She doesn't have a set lesson plan but will adapt the lesson to what crops up at the time. She seems laid back but is actually very conscientious and observant.
Naomi comes to my house for the lessons, which is handy. If a lesson time needs to be changed, or she is running late, she will always let me know. She is very reliable.
