Personal Description:

I am a bassist, pianist, improviser and composer based in London, performing both nationally and internationally in a range of styles, from jazz to alternative pop and rock.

I began by performing in settings as diverse as orchestras, jazz ensembles, and pub bands, then moved to London to study jazz bass at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Alongside my studies, I wrote and recorded bass lines for tracks later played on BBC radio and in advertising, with over a million streams on Spotify. I have performed at renowned venues such as Camden’s KOKO, and internationally with an alternative experimental pop duo at festivals including Iceland Airwaves and Pitchfork Paris Avant Garde.

I spend much of my time now in the studio, working on original projects. As a founder of Endless Digital Birthdays collective, I collaborate frequently on new music and event organisation, notably a sold-out multimedia exhibition in July 2019, and the self-releasing of original music.

As well as forming a jazz trio with two of my ex-Guildhall peers, playing original music and arrangements, I am currently exploring further bass-led formats, including a duo with voice. My writing and arranging is influenced by Latin American traditions and Nordic improvised music as much as it is by Motown.

I am used to tutoring students of different ability levels, planning engaging lessons with the focus always on you and your needs. Having taught privately for more than two years now, I am well-accustomed to diagnosing and prioritising areas for improvement, and offering solutions that help you achieve your goals.

Whether you're picking up the instrument for the first time or want to refine your skills further, I'll tailor lessons and resources to your level so that you can improve in ways that are meaningful and fun. Whatever music you're interested in and whatever stage you're at, I'd love to help you get to the next level.

I plan sessions based on what you personally want to achieve, keeping things interesting while useful for your musical development. I believe it's important to keep the music at the forefront of lessons - technique is only useful if you have something to use it for.
