Information About Matthew - Seascale teacher

Personal Description:

My love of music has been strong ever since I first saw the documentary 'The genius of Beethoven' at the age of seven. From that age onwards I had a love of music and what it could bring. But it wasn't until the age of eleven that I finally took up my two primary instruments, the clarinet and piano. Now five years later they have provided me with a plethora of experiences and rewards ranging from: Playing with the Cumbria Youth Orchestra and Symphonic Windband as 1st clarinet in the 100th anniversary concert of the titanic disaster in April 2012; playing 1st clarinet in the Westlakes Windband for numerous concerts, participating as 2nd clarinet in the West Lakeland Orchestral Society for a performance of Brahms' 'double' concerto for violin and 'cello. As a pianist I have won the title of 'young musician of the year' (school competition not the BBC one!). I have also ahd many successes on the examinations side of music with a grade 8 on the clarinet and a grade 6 on the piano. Furthermore I have also achieved grade 5 theory to distinction standard. I want to be able to inspire and help other people to bridge the gap, as music theory is all important in reaching those higher grades.

Tutoring Experience:

As yet I have had very little tutoring experience, but this could change…

Tutoring Approach:

I feel that tuition should be inspiring for students, so hope to spread my passion towards the topic of music to other people. Also I will provide invaluable tuition which will help to provide firm foundations for future learning, not just short term.
