Information About Leah - Wandsworth teacher

Personal Description:

Hello there, my name is Leah and I am a flute and piccolo player! I studied at the Royal Northern College of Music for six years. In that time I gained a Masters degree and 1st Class Honours degree in Flute Performance. I studied with Cormac Henry, Principal Flautist of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Jenny Hutchinson, Principal Piccolo of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. I have played with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera North and The Hallé orchestra. I also have experience in non-classical flute playing such as with big bands and session orchestra. I particularly enjoy playing contemporary and modern flute music as well as improvisation.

Tutoring Experience:

I have had the pleasure of working with a handful of young flute students who I have been able to nurture and assist in achieving their full potential. I also have experience teaching adult students - it is never too late to go back to playing the flute or learn for the very first time.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to access music because it is part of our human nature. I understand my teaching role to be one that is supportive and encouraging because that is something that I benefitted from greatly. I believe it is my job as a teacher to help my students to feel at ease and to fill them with positivity so that they can be the best version of themselves and achieve their goals!
