Information About Kyle - Southampton teacher

Personal Description:

Hi I'm Kyle, I've been playing the guitar for 18 years. In that time I've played in several bands, including jazz bands, rock bands, blues bands, function bands, and metal bands, and I've played venues such as the Nuffield theatre, The Cockpit (Leeds) and The Joiners among many others. Guitar is my passion, and now I'm in a position to help others get the same joy I do.

Tutoring Experience:

I've previously taught a mix of beginners and intermediates in a one on one environment, with age ranges varying from young child to adult.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to teach to play, at a pace to suit the student, and to aim towards the style the student enjoys. I teach students to play for themselves, by ear and to think about what they're playing rather than simply reading written notation. That said, I do teach how to read guitar tab and will touch on reading music depending on the student's needs. I focus more in technique and guitar craft so the student understands what they're doing and have the tools to play with other musicians, and improvise, and enjoy their playing where written notation isn't present.
