Personal Description:

Juliana is a freelance music teacher/musician based in Sheffield. She is an extremely patient, enthusiastic and friendly teacher who believes that music should be accessible to all! She teaches most genres but specialises in classical and folk music.I am of the belief that music is for everyone, and everyone can make music. As a teacher, I love giving people the tools and confidence to play music you love!

Tutoring Experience:

I am a music teacher with over 7 years teaching experience of all ages and abilities. I hold a Bachelor's of Music from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and an MA in Music Psychology from the University of Sheffield. I am really passionate about community music-making, and have delivered projects for hospitals, care homes and early years settings. As a performer, I regularly play with folk band Shivelights and improvisatory ensemble Emergence Collective, was featured on BBC’s Songs of Praise and played recorder and whistles for the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Tutoring Approach:

As a teacher, I do my best to tailor my lessons to the pupil and their interests- I recognise that everyone learns differently and try to apply this to my teaching. I can offer tuition which includes the ABRSM and Trinity exam syllabuses (I have a 100% pass rate for all students that have undertaken exams), but can plan my lessons based on individual requirements. I can teach either using music notation or by ear.

My approach to teaching is that I prefer to tailor my lesson to you. I will work on topics such as technique, posture, ear training, improvisation and theory right from the very beginning but the most important thing is that my lessons build confidence and enthusiasm for music.
