Information About Josef - Huddersfield teacher

Personal Description:

I am a trumpet/cornet player and educator based in Huddersfield. I have over 20 years playing experience performing with brass bands such as Grimethorpe Colliery and Brighouse and Rastrick from the age of 13. At the age of 17 I was appointed principal cornet of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and went on to study trumpet performance at the Royal Northern College of Music, graduating in 2014. During my time at the RNCM, I co founded and performed in an award winning brass quintet and since graduating have performed with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra whilst continuing to perform with brass bands/ensembles around the country.

Tutoring Experience:

I have extensive experience in teaching, working with music services around the country. Most recently, I worked for Berkshire Maestros as a brass tutor and ensemble leader. I have taught all age groups from 6 to 18 as well as adult students. During my time in Berkshire I worked as brass coach with the Berkshire Youth Symphony Orchestra alongside many other youth brass ensembles around the country. Whilst teaching privately and through various music services, I have guided students through both ABRSM and Trinity exams with a 100% pass rate. I also have experience tutoring students for music college and university auditions.

Tutoring Approach:

All lessons are catered to each individuals’ needs. I aim to make lessons enjoyable and relaxing whilst also providing the tools for students to reach their potential. I have experience in entering pupils for exams as well as preparing for music college and university auditions. I cater to students who don't wish to take formal exams and prefer a more casual approach to their lessons. I also have experience teaching students with special educational needs.
