Personal Description:

I am a professional guitarist with 40 years of playing experience. Picked up the guitar at the age of 5 and have hardly taken a day off. I have played in many bands and outfits over the years and played for the likes of Prince Charles and many others. I have been teaching for the last 15 years full time. Schools for 12 years, 15 years privately on a 1 to 1 basis. Online in my own studio full time now using Zoom, Skype. I play a large amount of styles, Rock, Metal, Country, Blues, Gypsy, Classical, Acoustic and Electric to name a few. I tailor each student's lessons individually offering assistance on what inspires them but also add in relevant theory and practical advice as much as possible. I can also teach up to grade 8 with the RGT syllabus. Also I think learning songs from start to finish is very important. Playing guitar must always be fun, learning must always be fun and I try to make that a priority. Most of my pupils do not want exams and want lessons on what excites them musically, what they want to play what they have heard and what they aspire to play but I also think the exams are very valuable!

I have a limited amount of student space available but please get in touch, My clients already are from from 6 to 70 years of age and everyone is different.

Tutoring Experience:

I have 12 years school peripatetic teaching under my belt and 15 years all round teaching in a private capacity.

Tutoring Approach:

Must be fun, tailored to each person with the onus on what excites the student. Theory and practical tips are drip fed along with the songs students love. If a student wants to to grade exams on the RGT syllabus that is great and if someone wants to learn theory and techniques etc that is no problem. I work with the client to get what they want, as quickly and concisely as possible. Most people want to play for fun and that is what it should be. If it is not fun something has gone wrong and that needs repairing quickly. I will help you get on the right path for you, I will save you time but you will have to work at it to get the results you want…
