Personal Description:

I am a young and experienced professional guitarist, having graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music on the BMus (Hons) Popular Music programme. With a background in rock music, my tastes also include ambien**Contact Detail Removed**ctronic, jazz, pop, funk, acoustic and more - I can find something to enjoy in most styles.

As well as teaching, I play lead guitar in 7 piece groove collective Bethlehem Casuals. Over the last five years we have played at venues across Europe, including 2 UK-wide tours and a tour of France, Germany, Austria and Italy. We have also performed at a number of large festivals including Glastonbury, BlueDot, Kendal Calling, Latitude, El Dorado, Manchester International Festival, Manchester Jazz Festival, and Mandrea in Italy. We currently have two albums (Feels on Wheels, The Tragedy of Street Dog) and an EP (Croissant Macabre) published and available to the public.

I also session for Alistair Griffin, which has seen me tour the UK twice and play a number of large scale events including the British Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone. In addition to this, I also work freelance on the function scene, performing with a number of companies at weddings, parties and corporate events around the country.

Tutoring Experience:

I have previously taught music full time at the Arts & College Preparatory Academy in Columbus, Ohio. This provided me with a wealth of experience teaching both in group and in one-to-one settings, and of dealing with a wide variety of playing standards. As part of this role I was teaching not only Guitar, but Music Theory, Ensemble Classes, Percussion, even Visual Art - most importantly, looking at things from a number of perspectives and being adaptable!

I also have experience planning and teaching workshops in Guitar, Songwriting, and Ensemble Techniques, as well as in private tuition.

Tutoring Approach:

The most important thing for me is to make the lessons fun, engaging and easy to understand. Beyond that I'm totally flexible - whether you want to just learn your favourite songs, dig down into some music theory, create your own music or anything in between, I'm completely happy to work around whatever it is you want to get out of the lessons!
