Personal Description:

Joe Studied Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music at Sage Gateshead where he received a Bachelor of Music Degree with Honours and specialised primarily in studying Performance and Composition and Arranging.
With over 10 years live performance experience and experience playing in touring function bands, jazz, rock and pop bands with recording session experience and experience performing in amateur musicals such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, Annie, Sweet charity and more, Joe has a vast spectrum of material to draw from in order to instil passion into students and tailor lessons to fit each student's individual needs.

Tutoring Experience:

I have studied teaching methods and practises and have experience in assisting workshops for a group of around 20 children of around 10 years old led by Scott Bramley. Also attending the teacher training workshop 'Creative ideas for keeping young people entertained' conducted by Pe**Contact Detail Removed**tanka taught me how to control and engage groups of young people effectively. I have attended drum lessons from the age of 9 years up until graduating from university from three teachers and retained all documentation from these sessions. With this material combined with my knowledge from my experience and studies I have compiled a catalogue of lesson plans to be implemented in private drum tutoring and group workshops which can be adapted for a wide range of ages and abilities. Experience with composition and arranging from the Minor Study of my degree course enables me to organise for parts to be compiled with other instrument teachers to compile band performances for events and schools, which adds the essential aspect of live performance experience to the students repertoire. Lessons are provided at the student's own home.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a combination of books and written material to teach students everything they need to know whilst observing weaknesses and composing my own material in order to improve the student in the necessary areas. I also have material in which to teach the student to read notation. I also use playalong tracks and popular music tracks in order to teach the student consistent playing. These songs can be tailored to suit the students taste in order to teach them to play in the style that they wish whilst still teaching stylistic diversity.
