Personal Description:

Whether the piano is totally new to you, or if, like so many people, you learnt piano as a child and now regret giving it up, NOW is a great time to start again either face to face or online, the choice is yours.

Adults students will find a friendly, supportive environment here. I recognise how nerve-racking it can be for adults to start learning the piano, so, I help my students work through their nerves to help them progress and achieve to the best of their ability.

Please message me for tips on setting up you online lessons and to set a date for your first lesson.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching online since March 2020 and have a professional audio/video set up because it's essential that we can see and hear each other very clearly:

Tutoring Approach:

Music is the sound that we produce and no matter which approach suits your learning style, we always focus on the end result of making beautiful music!

Learning to really listen and hear your own playing is one of the first skills I teach.

Our physical posture and movement creates the sound and I consider it essential to teach a good healthy technique from the beginning, not just to play musically, but to avoid injury.

The written score is a representation of music, and is the way composers communicate their ideas to musicians… however while learning to read music is an essential skill, it's not the only way to learn to play. You can create your own compositions and improvise, and you can learn to play music by ear, if you wish.

I will work with you to find pieces that inspire you, and help you set goals to keep you motivated.
