Personal Description:

I have been teaching singing for 30 years. My own teacher was Elvira De Hidalgo, a great singer who had many successful students, one being Maria Callas. This school is pure Bel Canto and one can trace it back to the great Garcia. My speciality is Opera and Classical song.I am very happy to teach beginners as well as more advanced levels and can help singers in any genre of music they wish. For more information, Jenny has been teaching the Bel Canto method of Elvira De Hidalgo (Maria Callas's teacher) for thirty years. This is an instrumental school based on a series of scales, which gives you breath control, increases your range and gives you great flexibility and legato.

When you have a grounded classical technique, it should give you freedom to explore all kinds of repertoire. It helps singers at any stage, from beginners to professionals and also works for remedial training.

Miss also coaches singers in Song, Oratorio and Opera. She herself had an International career as a Concert and Opera singer after studying at the National Opera School and London Opera Centre on the Leverhulme Scholarship. She was also awarded a Calouste Gulbenkian Fellowship as a Most Outstanding Young Performing Artist. She began her teaching career as Professor of Singing for the Skalkottas Conservatoire in Athens.

Jenny is a recommended teacher for the Philharmonia Chorus.

Tutoring Approach:

Each individual needs a different approach. But all pupils have to learn the De Hidalgo scales and breathing as well as diaphragm support. When working on pieces, one is asking for diction, good phrasing, legato and interpretation and help on languages.
