Personal Description:

Jake has been playing drums from the early age of 9. Guided by his father Carl he quickly progressed and found himself as a runner up in the national competition “Young Drummer of the Year” in 2005 and 2006.

Spurred on by those early achievements Jake started working as a professional musician aged 18, gigging and teaching around Liverpool and the UK. He has since gone on to study at Tech Music School (now BIMM London) and The Drummer’s Collective in New York City where he learned to play many different genres including: Rock, Pop, Funk, Jazz, EDM, DnB, Blues and many more.

Whilst studying Jake carried on working and during that time was part of the National Theatre production “The Drowned Man” which ran for a year and saw thousands flock to see it including A-listers such as Madonna and Channing Tatum.

Since then Jake has worked with artists such as: Edele Lynch (BWitched), Peter Perrett (Domino Records), The Only Ones, Ray Quinn, Nova Twins, Lucinda Belle Orchestra (Decca Records), Purdy, Oz Noy (guitar great), Jess and the Bandits, Bright Light Bright Light, Connie Lush, Simon Carter (Jamiroquai), Nate Watts (Stevie Wonder MD) and many more.

He is sponsored by Ludwig Drums and Roland Electronics.

Tutoring Experience:

12 years teaching experience. In that time I has taught at secondary schools, privately and am currently one of the drum teachers at Salford University.

Tutoring Approach:

I use my real world knowledge to help guide my students. Being an active session musician gives me the ability to give up to date tips and advice for my students. I also use all of the knowledge that I've picked up during my studies in London and New York.
