PhD candidate University of Huddersfield (2022), Master's degree DePaul University Chicago under Prof. Ilya Kaler (2016), Utrecht Conservatoire under Prof. Elisabeth Perry (2013) , BMUS Robert Schumann Music Hochschule Dusseldorf and University of Bergen, Norway (2011).
Teaching violin and ensemble playing since 2007. Teaching positions at University of Wolverhampton, Norwegian Music Education Academy (MUNO), teaching assistance at University of Huddersfield, DePaul University Chicago. Co-founder of acclaimed improvised Quartet Frame Ensemble, and Drift Ensemble specialising in performance of mixed and multimedia composed and improvised music.
Dedicated to establishing long-term collaborations and developing new works across different genres, I have presented numerous premieres across Europe and North America and appeared in various settings at festivals such as Huddersfield Contemporary, Borealis, Gaudeamus, Chicago New Music, Wonderfeel and others. Educated in Bergen, Düsseldorf, Utrecht and Chicago, I consider Elisabeth Perry, Ilya Kaler and Irvine Arditti my most influential teachers. My repertoire extends from the music of early Baroque Era, to some of the newest works of the 21 Century.
Tutoring Experience:
Violin, Chamber Music, Improvisation, Contemporary Music, Baroque Music.
Tutoring Approach:
I am passionate about education and believe that it essential for both individuals and societies as a whole. My teaching philosophy can be described rather simply: I am interested in developing a whole personality, whether I teach a music performance class or present an academic lecture. I am devoted to nurturing curiosity, reflection and independent thinking alongside technical excellence. I encourage my students to ask critical questions, develop an experimental and problem-solving attitude to their work (and life) and challenge the easy and the obvious. My emphasis is on the process and concrete step-by-step problem solving, rather than the final goal or destination – a teaching philosophy that has much in common with the athletic performance studies (Deborah Osteen-Munch (2018)) Strategies for Teaching the Process Orientation in Sport and Education Domains, Journal of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance, 89:5, 53-57, DOI: 10.1080/07303084.2018.1440269).
