Personal Description:
Hi, I'm a friendly and dedicated teacher with a wide experience of working with people at all levels; from early learners to professional coaching. Based in Manchester, I'm an examiner with ABRSM and active as a performer, working as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral pianist (BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, John Wilson Orchestra)
Tutoring Experience:
25 years experience teaching privately, and currently holding a teaching post at the University of Liverpool. I worked for twelve years as a piano tutor at the Royal Northern College of Music junior department.
Tutoring Approach:
I work with students at all levels, looking to foster a love of music alongside structured and progressive learning. I aim to make lessons focused and friendly, encouraging students to appreciate music as well as working to maximise potential in technique and musicianship. An ABRSM examiner myself, I use the graded exam system to help students achieve globally-recognised markers of progress. As an examiner my DBS check is always up to date.
