Personal Description:

I have been a full-time tutor now since 2012. Currently specialising in online tuition, I have designed modules and curricula for Maths, Music, English & Science. Despite studying Professional Musicianship at university, my true calling led me to gain my Qualified Teaching Status in Secondary Mathematics. Even throughout university I was tutoring face-to-face and even teaching fellow peers the likes of GCSE retakes (Maths), essay/research/note/academic skills, and Music theory. Since gaining pedagogic training, I have expanded my repertoire, understanding experience to include SEN, Primary, Tertiary (FE) and Higher Education. Including tutoring experience with home-schooling, EAL, LAC and adult learners studying for QTS, curriculum reform and creating new syllabuses for A level teachers.

Offered:

Regular Tutoring for SATs, GCSE, IGCSE, IB, A Level

Primary, secondary and tertiary level students (extensive tutoring experience in Mathematics, Music Theory, English Literature/Language, Physics, Chemistry and Biology). Tried and tested, research based, self-developed resources for teaching a 'one size fits all’ approach.

Preparations for deeper understanding in problem solving techniques (identification and support in areas for improvement, exam/revision practise, improving articulation of original ideas, optimal approach for longevity of memory)

Homeschooling students (including regular formative and summative assessments, social and academic skills, all 3 basic subjects covered as well as creative, EAL LAC)

Common Entrance, 7+, 10+, 11+, 13+, SAT

Supported and taught children of high complex behavioural / emotional / educational needs, including families from impoverished backgrounds, low income, orphaned, or LAC

Assisted in the professional rewrite of pedagogic resources. Aiding fellow educators to repurpose their curricula, focusing on deeper understanding, exploring education vertically, as opposed to learning horizontally

Working with some of London and Brighton’s top tutoring agencies

Tutoring Approach:

My unique selling point, and primary factor for my students’ successes, lies in the cultivation of a challenging yet nurturing environment designed to support and extend my pupils’ abilities. To get to know each individual and their requirements, and to change my approach according to each student’s needs

I provide intriguing real world scenarios, as well as purely theoretical thought experiments, as examples to lively explain difficult concepts in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Poetry

I facilitate my students’ learning journey by allowing correct / incorrect / “I don’t know” / and everything inbetween answers with а series of well-planned open questions, rather than prove them with an unnatural view of the binary solutions “yes” or “no”

Patience is another one of my strongest virtues. Endeаvоuring to allow my pupils the time to truly understand new concepts, giving them plenty of thinking room. This may be through simplifying the question, or interpreting it as best sorted for their individual comprehension

I am а strong believer that building good working relationships ensures solidifying the exchange of ideas

Incorporating questions from both below and above their current requirements allows context for solutions. Utilizing both simpler and harder exam questions provides my pupils the tools to not get overwhelmed with constrictive exam-like testing. This includes incorporating problem solving questions from higher tiers, and other subjects (e.g… GCSE Qs for KS3 students. A Level Qs for GCSE students etc.)

I use interactive and collaborative software to provide students with visual representations of conceptual ideas, establishing them as both abstract and concrete

Asking students to write their own questions on past topics is a great means to both assess, and reinforce old concepts. If they are able to teach back what they have learned from a week or so previously, then this allows for the reinforcement of deeper understanding, not memorizing. The best way to learn is to teach

I provide students with efficient tips and tricks to aid those with dyslexia or dyscalculia

DBS on the update service for both children and adults
