Personal Description:
I have been playing the piano since the age of 8. I have a Diploma in Music Teaching through the London College of music alongside a musical performance diploma which I passed with distinction. I am also qualified up to Grade 6 theory. I have an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Tutoring Experience:
I started teaching in April 2015 so consider myself to be fairly new to teaching but I offer a unique learning experience and real enthusiasm for every lesson. I put a lot of planning into each lesson to allow my pupils to get the most out of their time with me. As each pupil is so different I tailor every lesson to that specific pupil allowing them to excel in all areas of musical learning.
Tutoring Approach:
I offer a fresh and fun approach to teaching in a warm, friendly and relaxed environment. I am a young and enthusiastic teacher and love teaching. I like to think that my passion for teaching is what enables to get great results from all my pupils. Parents are most welcome to sit in on lessons. Lessons may be just for fun or exam entry. I am happy to teach ages 4 and upwards. I offer half hour and hour long lessons and in some cases am able to offer lessons on alternate weeks if that is more convenient. I now teach online lessons too.

I have limited previous experience of playing, and Emily is extremely with patient with me while I try to remember things, as well as trying to play new music on her beautiful mini-grand. Emily even lent me a sustain pedal for my digital piano.

From Karen (/5): Having had a lesson with Emily i can see that she knows what she is doing. A pleasant girl who approaches learning in a structured way. Sadly lacking with other tutors in my experience. She provided the learning material too. No improv nonscience which is no good for people who just want to learn to play properly. I have high hopes that she will get me out of the rut i have been put in. If you want to get value for money and progress i can recommend Emily.

Each lesson includes practical and theory exercises and she gently nudges me enough through each session to ensure I make good progress. When I first met Emily via Zoom in August 2019 I never knew anything about scales and chords - but now I do.

Communications were easy and helpful. My first lesson exceeded my expectations. I have no musical experience and EM was patient and understanding. We had an ejoyable (for me anyway) first lesson and I am looking forward to the next one.

I think the rapport between teacher and student is very important as if that isn't there then it doesn't encourage the child.

Emily obviously forges good relationships with her pupils, making lessons fun whilst learning music theory and pieces. Would definitely recommend.
