Tutoring Experience:

Over 20 years experience as a music teacher. Teaching online or in person from my home music studio. All ages and abilities, fun, engaging lessons supported by structured pedagogy.
15 years experience as a school teacher across primary and secondary.
Enhanced DBS, Safeguarding Certification and Public Liability Insurance.
Tutoring Approach:
Fundamentally, children and adults need to trust their teacher and enjoy their lessons to maximise their learning. After that, practice is all you need! I enjoy incorporating Suzuki and Kodaly methods into my teaching, and teach students solo and ensemble skills and the art of independent learning and practice. In addition to traditional pedagogy, I am also keen to embrace new technologies in the classroom and use a variety of tools and media for teaching. Students are supported to take exams if that is their choice. I enter students for the ABRSM exams and encourage theory tuition in addition to their instrumental programme and encourage them to access other local music-making activities.
