Personal Description:
I am a professional musician who studied BMus (Hons) Popular Music degree at the Royal Northern College of Music and specialised in bass guitar. I have recently returned from performing on a major cruiseship company across the world. I have also had the privilege to perform with a multitude of different function and original bands across the country and be involved with pit bands for different musical productions. In addition to this i have spent a large amount of time in recording studio situations.
I believe that i am a friendly and approachable person and I strive to ensure that my students feel relaxed and at ease in lessons.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught a number of students prior to my degree and have additionally cultivated and expanded my skill set through different modules during my degree. I have also had the fortune to be taught by some of the best bass players on the professional circuit which has allowed me to further improve my knowledge of the instrument and refine my approach to teaching.
I have also had work experience assisting a peripatetic music teaching in local primary schools.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that it is essential to ensure that the student is not feeling disheartened or demotivated when it comes to progressing on their instrument, which is why I make sure to personalise the lessons around the student to ensure that they continue to enjoy playing and progressing. This means that along with material i have selected as appropriate for what the student needs, the student can also bring their own projects and challenges to the lesson.
I make sure to understand the musical tastes and preferences of the student before hand and establish where they wish to take their playing ability.
