Personal Description:

Hi, my name is Chris and I'm 35 years old. I'm a musician/songwriter/music tutor based in Solihull/Birmingham. I first picked up an instrument at the age of 16 and quickly started looking into taking my music further. I'm currently a course leader in Music Performance at a college in Birmingham. I have been playing in bands and have been writing songs for around 14 years now which has taken me around the country playing shows big and small. I also have a keen interest in music production including teaching songwriting with music technology and production suites such as Logic Pro X and Cubase 10.5 Pro.

I currently play bass guitar and guitar confidently as well as having a good knowledge of DAWs such as Logic Pro X and Cubase 10.5
I also play drums and piano which has allowed me to really focus in on rhythm and gelling the sounds of a song/band together.

Tutoring Experience:

I've been teaching freelance priva**Contact Detail Removed**ssons for around 12 years now and obtained my PGCE within Music, Media and the Arts 5 years ago. I also have a masters degree in Education with a specialism around curriculum design and assessment methods.

Tutoring Approach:

As I discussed within my Masters dissertation, I think that music shouldn't necessarily be about achieving grades or being able to play the most complex time signatures possible, it should be about having fun with your instrument and being able to use these skills to craft something you are proud of. Those who wish to pursuit knowledge in the more complex elements of music will come once someone has an appreciation for the essential musical methodologies. I also believe that there are no 'bad tastes' in music. Music is subjective and can speak differently to different people and this should always be respected and understood.
