Personal Description:
Hello, thank you for reading my profile. Just a little note that my rate is £25 for students coming to me, and it will be £30 if I need to travel to you. Apologies, but I could not find another section to place this information.
Belinda ; lecturer, choreographer, dance artist, researcher and musician was born and brought up in South Africa. After moving to the UK 18 years ago she has worked across the country on a diverse array of projects in settings that include film/media, large scale site-specific collaborations, theatrical productions and education. In 2006 she was a finalist for the Essex Dance/Glaxo-Smith-Klein artist in residence, in 2007 was a finalist in the NW Digital Futures Academy and in 2010 she was awarded an Merseyside Artists Bursary. In 2010 she also performed at the Manchester International Festival, choreographed a piece for YDE at Sadler’s Wells and was commissioned to create a piece as part of Liverpool City of Radicals. This year a short film that she choreographed won the 'best music video' prize at the Warsaw Independent Film Festival. Since 2010 she has choreographed for various projects & companies including; Dance Fusion & 8 out of 10 Cats, BBC Children in Need at Media City, The Olympics and Welsh Heritage, Rugby League World Cup WOW, Royal Shakespeare Company in association with Liverpool Network Theatre, Cabaret Noire, Liverpool City of Radicals, Youth Dance England, Mold Carnival, Theatre Harlech, Theatre Obscura, Rheged Mountaineering Centre & her own company. In the past 3 years, her own company has received Arts Council funding which developed a number of projects in St. Helens and Wigan. She currently works as a lecturer and course leader for the BA (Hons) Dance and Performance at the Arden School of Theatre. She is also a national examiner for dance and performing arts, and works as a freelance yoga, aerial yoga, aerial hammock and piano teacher.
Tutoring Experience:
Belinda has been teaching since 2004, and during this time has worked in private studios, community groups, young people, school, colleges, and universities. She has been doing one-to-one private piano and keyboard teaching since 2012. She has a 100% success rate for all of her students entering exams with ABRSM and Trinity.
Tutoring Approach:
Learning should be challenging, fun, and for the individual. It should be a life changing experience. It's important to play music that you love.
