Information About Jack - Stalybridge teacher

Personal Description:

I graduated from the University of Leeds with an honours degree in Spanish (2:1), completing modules in Spanish language, translation between Spanish and English, Hispanic and Lusophone cinema, Catalan language and an introduction to teaching.

While at the University of Leeds I completed my year abroad working as a British Council English Language assistant in Tarragona - and I loved it so much I asked to stay another year! My two years immersed in the language and culture gave me the opportunity to explore Spain really understand what I had been taught in the classroom in the years prior.

After graduating, I took on administrative roles in education which allowed me an insight into the English examinations system, before completing my PGCE in Spanish at the University of Manchester, passing and gaining QTS in 2020.

Teaching Experience:

Prior to completing my PGCE, I took on a placement at a school in West Yorkshire in 2013/14 and worked as an English Language Assistant in Spain between 2014 and 2016. I have experience of teaching in both state and private school, and I am familiar with the GCSE and A-level specifications across all awarding bodies.

Aside from my formal teaching experience, I have experience of teaching adults English ahead of their formal exams in Spain.

I have an up-to-date clean DBS check and a clean Spanish 'certificado de antecedentes penales' covering the time I lived in Spain.

Teaching Approach:

I will listen to your needs and goals and work with you to come up with a programme that works with you - whether that is speaking practice to help you prepare for a holiday or exercises to help you with those bits of grammar you can't quite get your head around.

I will ensure that you get where you want to be with a smile on both of our faces!
