Information About Stuart - Preston teacher - (17 reviews)
This is how 2 referees rated Stuart:
As a linguist, I have always specialised in helping others to experience the joy of languages and to use them with confidence, flare and command. As such, I am a well-qualified, personable and versatile teacher-tutor, equally comfortable with helping adults (individually or in groups) or children (in the classroom, or as tutees) to become linguists themselves. While I am a specialist in French (having lived there twice), I am also at home with Spanish and Italian. I am proud to have studied at the Royal English College, Valladolid, Spain, and to have studied for a briefer time at Santa Croce, Rome. I am also a graduate of the University of Oxford and the University of Durham.
My academic and professional qualifications are undoubted, helping you to have confidence that your investment will yield great returns. My tutees, both young and old(er), also find my tuition very enjoyable and stimulating.
I have studied and tutored in languages for eleven years. I am a qualified teacher (11-19/adult) of languages and I possess Qualified Teacher Status, as well as a PGCE. In the past, my tutees for the GCSE have made two to four grades' improvement, becoming remarkably fluent in a short time (whatever the language). I also have experience with primary school tutees.
My approach focuses initially on the acquisition of vocabulary as the basis of language-learning, coupled with attention to the four skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing), developing each at the appropriate time. With children, I have a relaxed but rigorous approach that takes advantage of the fun of languages to keep them working happily and productively. With adults, I am very versatile and I can adapt my approach to their needs, knowledge and ability, providing a beneficial and invigorating experience.

First class my boy got bumped his head in the school so the class was cancelled.
Second and the third week was call off by the tutor saying he wasn’t feeling well.
When I tried to contact the tutor to ask for the schdule if we can have class again just didn’t hear from him.
Feeling a bit disappointed…
The second session, which proceeded two days after the first (cancelled session), had to be called off in session due to a problem with the online conference software (Zoom).
Subsequently, I have been unavailable due to illness. Despite having been informed of this, Janet continued to email me, perhaps showing some anxiety on her part.
I should also ask that no payment has been offered for, or asked, for services and time rendered. On that basis, no tutor could proceed with such a customer.
Jarvis had achieved less than 50% in his end of Year 10 internal Spanish exam.
Stuart came along for 1.5 hours per week during Year 11, resulting in Jarvis attaining grade A in his actual IGCSE.
Well done Stuart (and Jarvis).
We believe Stuart has had a transformational effect on our son's academic ability and hopefully this will be reflected in his GCSE results next year. Highly recommended.
He recognised her strengths and weaknesses from the start and set up a work plan that encouraged my daughter to accomplish goals and have the confidence in numbers she was lacking.
