Information About Shereen - Muswell Hill teacher - (8 reviews)
This is how 2 referees rated Shereen:
I am an award winning and widely published writer educated to Ph.D level. My work includes fiction and non-fiction for both adults and children, published in anthologies, journals, magazines and newspapers. My work has also been performed on stage and on radio. (A full list of my publications and awards can be seen in the Arts section of the First Tutors website)
In addition to writing, I am experienced editor, having most recently co-edited "Trafalgar – the Golden Years" and "Wasafiri – New Generations". Most of my current editing involves working with students from A-level to Ph.D. level to assist them in structuring, proofreading and editing their essays, extended projects and theses. My clients are drawn not only from the UK but from all over the world, most recently South Africa, Belgium and Italy.
I am also an experienced educator, having taught both formally and informally at University and College level as well as at Secondary School level.
I enjoy working with students on essays, theses and projects. This is where all their hard work and research comes to fruition and they can show what they’ve learned and what they can contribute towards learning. My job is not to do the work for them, but to help them put their best foot forward i.e. to help them to make their work shine so that they can reap their just rewards.
Whether my clients are in a formal educational setting (school, college or university) or writing with the aim of being published, I think that my enthusiasm as an educator imbues them with an eagerness to make progress in their work. Additionally, the fact that I am a published and award-winning writer inspires them towards achieving their writing goals.

I didn't like the clock watching part and when I asked if I could send a draft email for simple marking or comment, I got a firm 'let's talk about it' which meant no. I have had tutors in the past who have all been very happy to offer advice (for free) after lessons.
I like to be brutally honest, sorry.
Firstly, you knew the cost before you asked for my services and obtained my details from First Tutors so you could at that stage have sought an alternative.
Secondly, there are many tutors who charge far more than £45 per hour for Secondary School tuition. It is not uncommon for University level tuition to run into hundreds of pounds per hour. You only have to look at the First Tutors and other websites to confirm this.
Lastly, it takes time for me to review written work just as it takes time to do preparation. I need to earn a living. I can't work for free. Would you? For someone you've just met once with no guarantee that she will return and that there would be an ongoing engagement?
This, however, was not the primary reason for my hesitating to mark your assignment. Having only met you once, I felt that it would be best to sit down with you to go through the assignment so that you could see how and why I addressed issues in it.
My ongoing students have found that I offer help and support outside sessions and even when they have finished their engagements with me. Most of my colleagues are amazed at how much work I put into this.
Good luck with finding someone who will tutor you for what you deem acceptable or for free.
It was a pleasure to work with you. I wish you every success in the future.
Good luck with the exams.
Her writing, spelling and comprehension improved markedly after just a few weeks with Shereen.
She is experienced and passionate, explains things clearly and relates well to children.
Thank you Shereen.
Regards to you all
Thank you so much for your very kind comments.
As you know, I take pleasure in tutoring Bora.
Shereen is very good at what she does and I believe the method she employs would bring out the best in her pupils and help them build their confidence.
I highly recommend her.
