Personal Description:

I am an experienced native French Tutor who taught for more than five years and new to Aberdeen.

I had been living in London for four years before, where I graduated in Psychology and taught students French from various ages and backgrounds. Previously, I was born and lived in Paris for the first 25 years of my life where I started teaching French.
I stay naturally interested in the educational field beside my work as a tutor. Through studying Psychology, I developed interest in the unique approach that would suit best every student.

Teaching Experience:

In Paris, I started as a volunteer within the French Red Cross and organised French classes for women experiencing severe linguistic disadvantages. In parallel, I was in charge of teaching privately a minor with learning and concentration disabilities.

I became a French Tutor since living in London. Students for French were from 4 to 65 levelling from beginner to upper-intermediate. My emphasis is to organise classes according to students' needs. For conversational and business lessons, I have looked for the use of new other resources such as interactive exercises, programs on the radio, dictations, bilingual books, journals, softwares, card games and various play activities for children; all beside a regular work on a method book.

At an academic level, I have been helping French students with writing, working thoroughly on essay and other writing skills (developing opinions, descriptions of past and current activities, plans and intentions). Besides, I have focused on adjusting the balance between passive and active skills according to each student and working also on pronunciation. In other situations, we have also often gone through intensive preparation for school French examinations (GCSE, A-Level, Common Entrance examination, SAT, examinations in France such as the CRPE).

Moreover, I have been teaching Mathematics and Biology at primary, secondary and at a GCSE levels, in preparation of the exams. As I studied these subjects at a University level and showed interest towards them, I also understood the specific school expectations for them at all levels.

Teaching Approach:

In light of my varied experience, I have realised how much teaching enhances interest to me. Successful learning has come through building motivation and confidence in my students. In many situations, learning will ask the learner to make an effort and the tutor has the duty to create the appropriate strategies for students to assimilate knowledge. I will be able to fulfil this by understanding deeply my students' specific gaps and building effective helping relationship.

From the beginning, I have realised how essential it is to establish goals, to stay positive and resilient with students. I have learnt to remain patient, focused on aims, as well as interested in all my students as unique persons and finding out the suitable learning pace for each of them. I have enjoyed conveying knowledge, stimulating and helping them to improve specific skills.

Overall, my students had a positive experience of learning, and this achievement is very rewarding to me.
