Information About Ruxandra - Bristol teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Ruxandra:
My name is Ruxi and I came to the UK in 2011 in order to study. I completed the Romanian Baccalaureate in Romanian Language and Literature, Chemistry and Further Maths in 2010 and I studied Biochemistry and Biochemical Engineering at University College London (2011-2015). In parallel, I learned Italian as a result of my passion for the Italian culture. Languages are my hobby and I enjoy teaching Romanian and Italian. At the moment I am doing a PhD in Biochemical Engineering and I also have a little one who is 1 and a half.
I had 2 students during uni whom I taught Romanian online for about half a year each. I taught other subjects such as Molecular Biology at high school as part of a university project.
I believe everyone is able to speak a foreign language provided that he/she has got the courage to make mistakes. I encourage my students to adventure themselves to approach whichever topic they are interested in and guide them through. Having said that I also believe that being very organised would enable my students to remember and consolidate the items I teach them. As a result I developed a toolkit which I use during each of my lessons consisting of rules, examples and exercises. Based on this toolkit, I give my students multiple options of topics we could approach. Depending on my students' preferences, I may speak Romanian or Italian only during our lessons in order to give them the opportunity to fully immerse in the language. I would start very slowly with basic information such as greetings, self introduction, nationalities and numbers whilst introducing basic grammar. Then I would move to sentence structures, tenses, questions, exclamations, adjectives and finally more complex pronouns whilst continuously adding new words to the vocabulary and actively practicing it with the students. I have a quiz in place for the end of every lesson and always give homework and check homework at the beginning of the lesson.
