Information About Rachel - West Byfleet teacher
I am an enthusiastic, confident and friendly individual with a positive approach to all aspects of life including at home, work and in my social life. I enjoy inspiring confidence in others, bringing out the best in them and helping them to achieve their potential.
I have had 2 years teaching experience which began in 2014. As part of my French degree course, I was employed by two French primary schools in Grasse near Cannes as an English Teaching Assistant. I taught children from the age of 6 to 11, with classes of as many as 28 pupils. I was responsible for selecting the topic areas and the lesson content, all of which was carefully planned using a range of resources and activities. I was able to deliver lessons in a creative way with clear learning objectives and an emphasis on achievement and enjoyment. I demonstrated effective classroom management and all pupils made measurable progress in their spoken and written English.
As an offshoot of my teaching in École Gerard Philipe I was employed by two families as a private English tutor. I provided weekly lessons in their homes. Parents were very appreciative of my teaching which enabled their children to greatly improve their self confidence in spoken and written English.
In February 2015 I was employed by Riviera French Institute which is a private language school in Cannes where I delivered adult group English lessons every week day. I delivered group and individual English lessons to adults and children with a wide range of requirements. All lessons were thoroughly and carefully prepared to a very high standard. They were structured in a way that made them enjoyable whilst maximising progress in all areas of the English language. For example, I taught English to a Turkish gentleman who held a senior position in a major Istanbul company. Lessons were conducted every week day for a month and I successfully helped him to improve his English skills in a business and social context. For one week in July I gave daily lessons to a group of 15 Chinese children. All of my pupils greatly improved their English skills; all verbal feedback and written evaluations regarding my teaching were very positive.
In 2016, some students returned to attend my English courses having attended lessons the previous summer. The classes included adults whose purposes and abilities were very different. I was able to meet the individual requirements of each pupil whilst effectively managing and integrating the lesson to make it varied and enjoyable.
I am currently completing my TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) course at the highest level which will certify my ability to teach English.
My teaching experience along with my French degree are transferrable skills which will enable me to teach French up to GCSE level.
I have a conscientious and friendly manor which inspires confidence in my students, along with my calm and patient approach to teaching. Maximising progress with enjoyment is the key to success in learning a language.
