Information About Nora - Edinburgh teacher - (1 review)
This is how 2 referees rated Nora:
My name is Nora. I am a 26-year-old native German and I just moved back to Edinburgh to continue with my research at the University of Edinburgh.
I hold a Master of Science in Cognition in Science and Society (UoE) and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, English and American Studies (Technische Universität Dresden).
I have lived, studied and worked in the US, Canada and Scotland (Edinburgh) and have experience in working as a teacher and tutor.
I have worked as a project manager and teacher on German courses for asyluum seekers. I was teaching German on an A1 level (beginners), as well as alphabetising my (latin) illiterate students.
Furthermore, I have been teaching German (on all levels) to refugees for the past months on a voluntary basis, to help ease integration and communication for my students.
Additionally, I have gained some experience in tutoring and teaching English to adults back in school. I was assisting and carrying out 8-week English training courses, as well as tutoring the more advanced students.
In order to successfully learn a language, I believe the learning process should be fun.
For me one of the most important things about learning a language is that the students has to apply it on all levels, which include writing, listening- and reading-comprehension, as well as speaking, in order to be able to communicate.
Furthermore, to make sure the student gets a feeling for the sound and concept of a language I will try not to speak any other language, only when absolutely necessary for comprehension purposes.
Whilst I think grammar is very important, especially in German, I will arrange the lessons to be as diverse and fun as possible, but more importantly to meet your particular needs.
