Information About Nicholas - Oldham teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Nicholas:
I am a first class honours graduate of Korean Studies BA at SOAS in London UK. Having studied the Korean Language for over 8 years and communicating in it daily with my partner, I am a confident, fluent speaker of the language and have a real passion for Korean literature and art. I have lived in Korea for over a year where I was able to hone my communication abilities and engage with Korean culture and social life. As a non-native to the language, I am able to provide insight from the perspective of a foreign leaner to students- I have a keen understanding of how Korean grammar is systematically constructed and am able to confidently explain this to students.
I have taught beginner and intermediate Korean language 1:1 classes to students in the UK over the past 3 years. During my stay in Korea I also tutored English language to Koreans.
With 1:1 classes I like to really understand what the student wishes to get out of the sessions; in my experience some students really want to improve their reading skills, while others wish to focus on verbal communication. As such, I will talk to the student and tailor a lesson that will cover the areas of the language that they would most like to focus on. The reason for studying the language also influences the contents of the sessions; for example those who wish to learn the language due to career and business reasons naturally would want to focus on learning how to communicate in the more formal setting, while general learners of the language may wish to cover more general ground.
