Bonjour! My name is Nathalie, I am a French native speaker and a French teacher. I speak German as well.
I have been teaching French from GCSE to A-Level for almost 20 years, 13 of which in two of England's most prestigious private schools, parallel to teaching DELF and DALF for the French Institute in London, as well as for a private Language School.
I now also teach university students and adults from different backgrounds (corporate, large NGO organisations, adults within the Continuing Professional Development scheme, personal development, conversational French, and other skills).
I am a certified DELF/DALF examiner & marker and prepare both pupils and adults for this internationally recognised qualification (A1 to C2 levels). Furthermore, I am a certified trainer for DELF/DALF examiners & markers, so I really know this examination and its required skills inside out!
I have both experience and certified training to work with SEN students (both children and adults), and I have worked as a French teacher in Academic Support departments, mainly helping pupils with dyslexia, dyspraxia or speech impediments.
I now teach extensively online, using platforms such as Zoom, Webex, Ring Central or G-Meets.
I take great care in establishing a caring and enjoyable working environment, as I think this is an essential basis for progress. My teaching methods are both encompassing and adaptive, and I use a large bank of authentic resources that I have gathered, created and honed over the years. My students will tell you that they love my energy, my fun approach to teaching, my patience and my dependability.
My aim is always to adapt my lessons to the needs of the learners, making sure I fulfil their expectations while maintaining a high level of motivation and enabling students to progress quickly and confidently. One of my degrees is in English grammar (BA First-Class Honours), therefore I have an excellent understanding of the difficulties faced by anglophone learners. My approach to teaching grammar and vocabulary is not always conventional and I use a lot of mnemonic techniques, which have proven to be highly successful for young and older learners, who have enjoyed quick and rewarding progress!

Nathalie listened so carefully to what I wanted support with, and tailored my lessons to exactly what I was looking for. We worked mainly on grammar and speaking, but also did a little writing and translation too and she was so helpful in all of these areas.
Nathalie prepared extremely thoroughly for my classes, doing extensive research to be able to explain complex grammar points to me in the most effective and nuanced way possible, which I didn't expect, but appreciated enormously! She also very kindly corrected any work that I sent between classes, which was really helpful too. I was so impressed by how diligent she was, and how much time she must have dedicated to preparing for my lessons, and I think this just shows how much she cares about providing really high quality teaching.
I thought that the lessons were structured very well, and Nathalie took clear notes throughout the classes on a document which she shared with me afterwards. On the document she noted the errors which I made and corrections for them, the new vocabulary that she taught me, alongside explanations of grammatical rules and exercises, plus ideas for homework tasks too (always bearing in mind my time constraints). This worked really well for me, as I often struggle with organisation, but with this format I knew exactly where to find information about everything we discussed in lessons, and I could focus fully on the class without worrying about having to note everything down myself.
Finally, but very importantly, Nathalie is extremely kind, and always positive and reassuring which I found to be so helpful in the lead up to exams! Whilst I am currently taking a break from tutoring with Nathalie as I focus upon other aspects of my studies, I would really would love to continue lessons in the future when I need similar support and have a little more time! Merci beaucoup pour tout Nathalie et à bientôt! :)
From my very first lesson she put me at ease, exploring with me my knowledge/level of French and my reasons and goals for learning French.
Her lessons are well structured and relevant and always peppered with humour.
At the conclusion of every lesson Nathalie produces a full written review with personalised homework goals together with her unique complimentary study aids including additional links to relevant study aid websites.
I really enjoy and look forward to my lessons which are stimulating, challenging and always enjoyable!
Nathalie is a very talented, dependable, patient and engaging teacher who makes the journey of learning a language enjoyable and achievable. She effortlessly breaks down the complexities of grammar and tenses (which us English tend to know little about!) into manageable bitesize chunks that start simple and build on each other as we progress. I had wanted to learn French for a couple of years so I could speak with my partner’s French side of the family but had struggled with motivation or knowing where to start. Under Nathalie’s guidance and teaching, I’ve made tremendous progress over the past few months. Learning French once seemed like a farfetched goal and I’m very grateful to Nathalie for making this possible. She invests her time generously, plans and tailors lessons to my needs and truly cares about and celebrates my progress.
I couldn't recommend Nathalie enough and feel very lucky that I've found such a talented and inspiring teacher!
We are very pleased with the choice we've made because Natalie is extremely knowledgeable, responsible and able tutor.
She made sure she did her utmost in order to achieve best possible results for her charge. Also she was flexible enough to accommodate our busy and therefore sometimes changeable schedule.
Highly recommended tutor!
