Mariona offers a FREE first / introductory lesson!
¡Hola! My name is Mariona and I am from Barcelona but I have been living in Wales for almost five years. I first came here to improve my English and now I think that I could say that I am fluent :) It is because I had the opportunity to learn English in the UK that I realised how important and helpful it is to learn languages with native speakers. I enjoy learning languages and I have enjoyed very much learning English, so I hope that I can make you feel the same way and help you to enjoy learning Spanish and its culture.
I have previously enjoyed helping primary and secondary students with their maths in my local community whilst I was studying my environmental science degree. That’s one of the reasons why I have recently completed a course to teach Spanish as a foreign language, from the International House of Barcelona and now I am very excited to start teaching Spanish.
So if you would like to learn Spanish or are already studying the language and need extra help, I can help you! I am happy to teach different levels, from beginners to advanced levels, and I don’t need to say that the age doesn’t matter; it is never too late to learn a language!
As every student has different needs I can tailor every lesson so the student can make the most out of their learning opportunity. I can provide structured lessons, conversational sessions and help with GCSEs and A-levels, resolving any doubts from what has been done in the class.
I am looking forward to start teaching my mother tongue and to share the Spanish culture with you!
Half a year ago I started teaching Spanish as a foreign language and, although I also have previous experience working as a private tutor, it was an exciting new venture for me. In the last six months I have taught a variety of students with a range of needs. I have been teaching adults, some interested in learning the language in depth and some interested in learning how to communicate in different situations and conversational Spanish for holidays. I also have experience helping GCSE and A-level students to prepare for their exams and teaching younger children. I always try to share my enthusiasm and motivation with the students.
I believe that the best way to teach a language is to contextualise. The student has to feel the need to use the language so in that way they will be motivated to learn.
Although the teaching methods will depend on the student’s level and age, I think that the ideal lesson needs to be dynamic to encourage the student to think and talk. Using games, Spanish resources and creating situations are some of the examples that I think that will make a fun and productive session.
