Personal Description:

I have spent most of my life in the language classroom, on one side or the other. I find languages absolutely fascinating; there's something really exciting and human for me in learning the ability to communicate with others and also embedding oneself in a different culture. Language and culture are inextricably linked and it is impossible to learn one without the other to some degree. This can really lead to broadening your horizons and at times can feel like creating an extension to your pre existing personality, which I find to be extremely stimulating. I have personally used me experience in learning languages to facilitate working and living in many other countries, including Colombia, Spain, Peru, Bolivia, China, Germany and Libya, and I wouldn't change my vocation for the world! Languages are really something I can say that I am absolutely passionate about!

Teaching Experience:

I have teaching experience reaching back over 16 years in many different countries and to many different levels. I have extensive University teaching experience in the UK, Colombia and China, and have taught to young adults and adults alike in the UK, Libya, Bolivia and Peru. In the UK I have taught Spanish, French and German in private language institutions to a variety of ages; from 3 to over 70.

Teaching Approach:

I create my lessons based on the learning needs and goals of my students. I strive to bring my passion and creativity into play and to always deliver dynamic, communication based lessons. I really enjoy teaching and have always received positive feedback (even from teenagers) referring to my contagious passion for languages.
I always strive to make the content of my lessons relevant and useful, applying the planning and teaching practices I have learned in my various teaching qualifications (CELTA, DELTA).
For me it is important to strike a balance between a well structured lesson with input, output, controlled and free practise, and enjoyable interactive fun activities whenever possible!
