Information About Joana - Glasgow teacher - (1 review)
This is how 2 referees rated Joana:
Olá! I’m Joana and I’ve been living in Glasgow for the past 3 years. I’m Portuguese and I love languages, so I want to help you learn or improve my favourite language: Portuguese! :)
I want to help adults or children who wish to learn or improve their Portuguese skills whether it is for academic, business or simply leisure purposes.
Back in Portugal, I have tutored native Portuguese speakers on their English learning journey (I have a C2 Proficiency certification), as well as Biology for students (I have a MSc in Biology).
I’ve learnt several languages myself (besides English I also speak Spanish and French), so I did get a broad exposure to different teaching methods and materials. I find one-to-one conversations the best way to learn a language - it gives you the chance to really practise or improve your conversation skills, as well as feel comfortable to ask any questions.
However, I also believe we are all different and therefore I am happy to discuss and adapt my approach to your personal needs, skills and preferences.
I will use a variety of teaching materials and will incorporate activities for writing, reading, listening and speaking in ways that will make you feel comfortable but also challenged.
If you want to visit Portugal or Brazil and order a cold beer or a coffee and a delicious “pastel de nata” I will explain and teach you useful conversational phrases and expressions, progressing then to basic grammar and vocabulary.
If you already know some basic Portuguese then I can tailor the lessons to your specific requirements – be it practising your conversational skills, expanding your vocabulary or simply learning about the culture.
I want everyone to feel relaxed, confident and most of all happy and excited about learning this beautiful language!
Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have.
PS: I am also more than happy to share travel tips with you if you plan to visit Portugal and put your hard work into practise!
