This is how 2 referees rated Jingbo:
Hello everyone! My name is Jingbo, and I’m a native Mandarin speaker.
I come from Xi’an, China. As you may know, Xi’an is home to the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World”; the Terracotta Warriors. Also, Xi’an was the beginning of the ancient Silk Road, and the Chinese Capital City for 13 dynasties.
Recently, I’ve settled in Scotland. Before that, I was a language teacher for six years after graduating from Xi’an Medical University in 2010. I very much believe in continuous development and while working as a teacher I’ve gained several qualifications. These include; the standard grade Putonghua proficiency test certificate for teachers in China, the TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) run by the University of Cambridge, and a TEFL certificate (Teaching English as Foreign language). I love teaching and I really enjoy the job I am doing! I’m very enthusiastic, patient and experienced. I also feel that I excel at motivating people, which is a very important part of the learning process.

I have spent several years as a senior teacher, teacher trainer and department head at one of the most noted language schools in Asia: English First. Additionally, I’ve worked as a teacher/teacher trainer at a few of the other leading language schools in Xi’an.
I specialise in early-level teaching (phonetics, sentence structure and conversational language use). As such, I’ve had plenty of experience with younger students. However, I enjoy working with learners of all ages and abilities. Since my move to Scotland, I’ve been focusing on teaching Chinese Mandarin.
I am fluent in both English and Chinese, and speak in a standard Mandarin accent when teaching. I aim to provide a fun and useful course, which can be tailored to any student depending on their particular aims and goals.
During the class I prefer to use a range of materials, activities and tasks to make my class interesting for students. I aim to make them feel motivated and inspired to learn in an engaging way. I believe that learning shouldn’t be hard or monotonous, it can be more efficient if you use the right method!
I can help you with developing your pronunciation, conversations, reading and writing.
For kids; I will focus on setting context to grab their attention and then using a range of activities, games and practice keeping the lessons lively and useful. I use a PPP (Presentation, Practice and Production) method of introducing, practicing, using and reviewing with learners of all levels.
I can also focus on Chinese culture throughout my lessons depending on personal preferences.
