Personal Description:
I am a German speech therapist teaching at Coventry University part time, and living in Leamington Spa for nine years now. Learning and teaching languages has always fascinated me, I speak five languages including my native German. I enjoy transmitting my first hand cultural knowledge of Germany and Brazil as an integral part of my language teaching.
Teaching Experience:
I started to teach German in 2005 while living in Brazil. Most of my teaching was in private lessons at home, but I also taught in two language schools. I taught students of all ages and levels. Since my arrival in Leamington I have been teaching Brazilian Portuguese, French and German at Coventry University and giving private tuition in Portuguese, German and French at home.
Teaching Approach:
My approach to teaching varies according to the age and interest of the learners and to the needs and purpose of the learning.
In general I follow the communicative approach where the capability to communicate is the most important goal. I have a range of teaching materials including videos, games, films, puzzles and online resources, but am always open to work on new material. I ask my students to give me 24 hours notice of any cancellation, otherwise the lesson will be charged for.
I prefer to teach at home and I also do online tuition. We have a cat in the house!
